Mic Cable Ties-Glazed or Unglazed?

microphone cable

One of the most common uses for cotton line in production facilities is for securing coiled microphone (XLR) cables. This keeps the cables from tangling and lets you store cables on hooks on the wall or in cable cases without the cables “marrying” each other.

There is always a debate (never resolved) about whether unglazed or glazed tie line is better for this purpose.

The unglazed side likes the ease of untying the knots and likes the softer feel of tie line without glazing.

If you come down on the glazed side, you are probably takling about liking how glazed tie line holds knots better and is less likely to unravel on the ends.

Both schools have their strong points, but at the end of the day, it comes down to personal preference.
